MANUAL MUSCLE REHAB
STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION
How It’s Different
When most people experience muscle and joint pain due to overuse, lifestyle, or acute sprains and strains, they typically will either do nothing and hope it will go away on its own, take a pain reliever, or try therapy or massage. If those don’t work, they may even get an injection of some kind. Each of those approaches have their time and place.
Manual Muscle Rehab is different in that it is a comprehensive approach to correcting both chronic and acute muscle and joint pain and dysfunction. It’s appropriate for pain that comes from a variety of sources, such as repetitive-use injuries, sore muscles and joints due to sitting at a desk or looking down at your phone all day, or acute injuries like sprains and strains from activity, sports, or accidents. Often times, patients come in stating the pain “came out of nowhere” and leave with a better understanding of what’s going on with their body.

What Makes It Unique
What makes Manual Muscle Rehab unique is how quickly it typically works and how long its effects last. While other types of therapy can require long hours spent in the office over the course of 4-6 weeks of treatment, Manual Muscle Rehab typically aims for recovery in days to weeks with only a few office visits. More often than not, patients walk out the door feeling immediate improvement after their first session.
The goal of Manual Muscle Rehab is to correct the problem quickly and show you how to keep it corrected over the long-term. Education is always provided as to what caused the injury, what activities to avoid, what to do to keep it from coming back, and what to expect in the future.

How It Works
MMR consists of targeted hands-on manual therapy that is reinforced with specific body movements aimed towards reprogramming the way the brain communicates with the muscles. It works with the body to help heal damaged soft tissues naturally. Here’s how:

-
Increases blood flow to the treated area, aiding in the healing process by delivering oxygen and nutrients, removing metabolic waste products, and reducing inflammation
-
Breaks down scar tissue adhesions that restrict movement and contribute to pain
-
Relaxes muscle tension/spasms which promotes greater range of motion
-
Improves tissue elasticity which enhances muscle performance
-
Promotes release of endorphins (the body's natural painkillers)
-
Normalizes tissue function by realigning muscle fibers
-
Enhances proprioception (the body's ability to sense its position and movements in space) which promotes better posture and restores balance between muscle groups
-
Increases muscle strength which provides resiliency to future injuries and stabilizes joints, reducing the risk of re-injury
-
Promotes better coordination and control
-
Re-educates movement patterns which helps prevent the development of chronic issues, promoting long-term recovery
-
Addresses underlying factors contributing to the injury, such as poor biomechanics, muscle imbalances, and/or faulty movement patterns.
